Farewell, Hitchens - art by elsatiph
Good (though sad) note to take us into the weekend.

Christopher Hitchens, art by theEldritchmrshiny

Artistically displayed painting of Hitch, art from Paintings on the Side
"To terrify children with the image of hell, to consider women an inferior creation—is that good for the world?"

“Literature, not scripture, sustains the mind and —since there is no other metaphor—also the soul.”
"The only position that leaves me with no cognitive dissonance is atheism. It is not a creed. Death is certain, replacing both the siren-song of Paradise and the dread of Hell. Life on this earth, with all its mystery and beauty and pain, is then to be lived far more intensely: we stumble and get up, we are sad, confident, insecure, feel loneliness and joy and love. There is nothing more; but I want nothing more."
Christopher Hitchens
I’m sure you’ve all heard the news by this point of Christopher Hitchens’ passing yesterday, after a fairly drawn-out battle with cancer.
In light of this, I’ve decided to postpone the theme I had chosen and dedicate today to some quotes, images and art dedicated to Hitch. We’ll be back to regularly scheduled content on Monday.
Thanks everyone, and have a good weekend being a heathen.

“Human decency is not derived from religion. It precedes it.”
RIP Christopher Hitchens (1949-2011)
The world is a far worse place without you. You will live on in so, so many memories.
