Hey followers,

As some of you have noticed and commented on lately, I’ve been pretty absent on the blog for the past few months.

I’ve been meaning to put up a notice for awhile, but now is the perfect time!

I am looking for either one or two people to co-run this blog with me from now on. If you’re interested, just send me a message with your answers to the following questions:

1) Are you an active tumblr user?

2) What is the largest number of followers you’ve had on a blog you’ve run/co-run?

3) What could you contibute to artoftheunbeliever?

Thanks!! Don’t be afraid to apply, I’m friendly.

where'd ya go?

Hey there!

Thanks for asking; the truth is that I have been extremely busy and this blog takes a lot of time to maintain. Lately I’ve been thinking of recruiting a co-blogger - maybe now is the time! I’ll put up a message right away for anyone interested.

“The unbeliever is not obliged to fit his morality and his facts into the four corners of any religion or tradition or inherited dogma. He is always in a position to review and to revise his teaching and his experiences; to absorb new knowledge and to remould his ideas according to the new light he receives. He has no Church dogmas to hinder him from searching what he knows not by what he knows, and ‘closing up truth to truth.’
He also knows that, at the least, his new thoughts mean growth, and not stagnation; and he is always possessed with the inspiring hope that the glowing thought which he plucks to-day from the darkness of the unknown may tomorrow be the light showing the way to greater and more important truths.” - Hypatia Bradlaugh Bonner

Hands down, my favorite reoccurring joke.

"The men who committed the atrocities of September 11 were certainly not ‘cowards’ as they repeatedly described in Western media, nor where they lunatics in any ordinary sense. They were men of faith—perfect faith as it turns out—as this, it must finally be acknowledged, is a terrible thing to be."

Sam Harris (via jamcloust)

"People are not stupid. They believe things for reasons. The last way for skeptics to get the attention of bright, curious, intelligent people is to belittle or condescend or to show arrogance toward their beliefs."

Carl Sagan

Happy Thanksgiving to my American followers!

Enjoy your tofurkey or turducken or just plain ol’ turkey.

I’ll be up here in Canada eating whatever I want.

Cheers

"The point of philosophy is to start with something so simple as not to seem worth stating, and to end with something so paradoxical that no one will believe it."
